One morning, Riya was walking to school when she noticed something shiny on the ground. She picked it up and discovered it was a black leather wallet. Looking around, she saw no one nearby, so she opened the wallet carefully. Inside were an ID card, a few hundred‑rupee notes, and a small photo of a smiling baby.

Riya didn’t want to keep something that wasn’t hers. The ID card read: “Mr Arjun Patel, 45, Lotus Street,” which was only two blocks away. After school Riya walked to that address and rang the doorbell. An older man answered. Riya asked politely if he was Mr Patel, and when he nodded, she handed him the wallet with a gentle smile.

Mr Patel’s eyes widened in relief. He explained that he had lost the wallet that very morning and thanked Riya warmly. Reaching into the wallet, he tried to offer her some money as a reward, but Riya shook her head and said, “No thank you, sir. I just wanted to return it.” Mr Patel smiled and told her the world needed more honest people like her.

Riya walked home feeling light and proud. She realized that a small act of honesty could make someone’s whole day better—and that thought made her happier than any reward.
